What child care at Starlight costs

How much does daycare cost in New Westminster?

The parent fee we publish already includes the BC Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative. One application covers every Starlight centre. Amounts below are monthly, for centres whose pricing is on the public site.

Published monthly daycare fees at Starlight
Centre Published tuition CCFRI Optional meal ACCB
Royal Avenue · New Westminster $1,035/month Already applied +$80/month Income-tested, stacks on top

ACCB is applied for by you and depends on income. Estimate your amount with the BC Affordable Child Care Benefit estimator. Once we confirm the payment, we reduce your monthly invoice by that amount.

Subsidies

Two programs worth knowing about

CCFRI

Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative

Applied automatically as long as the provider is enrolled, and all of our centres are. We already reduce your fee by the discount, so there's nothing for you to apply for and nothing to claim back.

ACCB

Affordable Child Care Benefit

Income-tested and applied for by you. We can provide the form on request. Once we know the amount covered and confirm the payments, we reduce your monthly amount by what's provided.

Is Starlight a $10 a Day site?

Not currently. $10 a Day ChildCareBC is a separate provincial program with its own site list. Starlight is enrolled in CCFRI instead: the fee reduction is applied automatically, and the number on this page is what you pay before any ACCB.

ACCB can stack on top of CCFRI. It is income-tested and applied for by you. Together they are how most of our families bring the monthly cost down; they are not the same as a $10 a Day space.

Paying

How payments work

Tuition, invoices and receipts all run through the Parent app.

Parent App guide
Why is there a fee for credit card payments?

Credit card payments through Parent incur a 3% charge, set by the provider (Stripe) as well as your credit card company, which pays for your points, extended insurance and other perks.

Most retailers absorb this fee as part of their pricing. Given our business model and our tuition being regulated by the government as part of our CCFRI enrolment agreement, it's something we cannot absorb. We recommend one of the alternate payment methods, which do not incur this fee.

How does the meal plan work?
At Royal Avenue, snacks and lunch are catered by our partner LunchLady as an optional monthly add-on. At our other centres, families contribute 2 food items per month and our staff prepares and serves the meals.
Can I set up automatic payments?
Yes. You can save a payment method in the Parent app and enable autopay so invoices are settled when they come due.
Are receipts available for taxes?
Invoices and receipts are stored in the Parent app under your child's profile and can be downloaded any time.
